Harding Sites Staff Uses Donation Money to Refurbish Gravesite Marker

The gravesite for two of Warren Harding’s siblings recently received some tender loving care from the Harding Sites staff.

Warren was just 13 when the two middle children in the Harding family, 6-year-old Eleanor Priscilla and 4-year old Charles Alexander, died on the same day in November 1878. The children, who succumbed to an unspecified illness, were buried in New Caledonia

Cemetery in Caledonia, just eight miles east of Marion. The Harding family lived in Caledonia for about 10 years during most of Warren’s boyhood. The existing marker was restored and repaired, and an “informational” stone placed beside the original to tell of the awful day. The staff used money from its donation boxes to fund the project.
